Hood Quarterly, winter 2013

After fourteen years as Curator of European Art, Bart Thurber left the Hood Museum of Art in December to become Associate Director for Collections and Exhibitions at the Princeton University Art Museum in Princeton, New Jersey. During his time at the Hood, Bart made many important acquisitions, including Virgin and Child with Saints (about 1500) by Perugino and workshop, two portraits by Pompeo Batoni, including that of William Legge, second Earl of Dartmouth (1753–56), and Jan Davidsz. De Heem's Still-Life with Grapes (1660s), among others. He also curated a number of exhibitions, including most recently European Art at Dartmouth: Highlights from the Collection of the Hood Museum of Art (2008) and "The Artful Disposition of Shades": The Golden Age of English Mezzotints (2010). We wish Bart the very best of success in his new career at Princeton.
