The renovation and expansion will increase floor size by 50 percent and triple student classroom visits to more than 6,000 a year, and most importantly, ensure that the museum fulfills its mission to create a learning environment that fosters transformative educational encounters with art for everyone. Construction will last through the start of winter term 2018. The museum is expected to re-open in 2019.
