This photograph is part of a long-term collaborative project following two cousins, Guille and Belinda, in a rural suburb of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Here, Guille and Belinda play dress up, adorning themselves with bold colors and jewelry. Guille inspects Belinda’s necklace, an inquisitive look on her face, as Belinda stares boldly into the camera. The girls have chosen to dress differently, yet Guille clearly admires Belinda’s choices. With this photo, Sanguinetti invites us to consider what we learn from early friendship. As cousins and friends, Guille and Belinda shape one another’s worlds, each learning from the other’s behavior, clothing, and actions.
