Highlighter yellow and neon pink playfully disrupt this work’s white negative space and distort our initial perceptions. The humorous and lighthearted title hints at its unexpected subject: a gathering of skulls.Guenther’s early work delves into themes of mortality while striving to find “beauty in darkness.” The ethereally suspended skulls impart a certain weightlessness to death, challenging our traditional notions of its heaviness and despair.
