The color of this work and the high viewpoint of the airplane blur the distinctions between the clouds and water below, rendering the horizon line indistinguishable and abstracting the landscape. The stark blackness surrounding the window contrasts with the view, emphasizing the window as a geometric shape. The subject of the work is not the view, but rather the place from which the viewer is looking—the window itself.

“I was, and remain, interested in engaging a simultaneous questioning of both subject and vantage point, the relation between viewer and world—in short, subjectivity and how it informs our experience of the world.” –Leonard
