"Indian Chief"; presented to Mrs. Hugh [Cornelia Morgan-Barber] McNeil, Bismark, North Dakota, upon the opening of the Northern Pacific Railroad, 1873; bequeathed to her nephew, Col. I. C. Avery, 1923; given to his grandchildren to play with; retrieved by their father [Avery's son-in-law] Col. Joseph W. A. Whitehorne III (1917-1990), [Dartmouth ROTC], Thetford, Vermont; given to present collection, 1961.
