These ranged from European stylistic influences and shifting taste nationally to te impact of industrialization, urbanization, immigration, and to such watershed events as the Civil War. The installation demonstrates how the Hood continues to build a collection that speaks to a co mprehensive view of American art and its regional distinctions.
The installation of this gallery was generously supported by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation.
