Hood Quarterly, spring/summer 2011

The Hood staff was deeply saddened at the news of the recent passing of another important supporter. Rem Kinne, Class of 1952, was the generous donor of several significant works of modern and contemporary art to the museum, including the paintings Summer (1949), by the German-born American abstract expressionist Hans Hoffmann; #9 (1960–61), by second-generation abstract expressionist Al Held; and Last Look (1980) by New York painter Gregory Amenoff, whose surreal canvases hover between the abstract and the figurative. Mr. Kinne and his wife, Joan, were active members of the Hood's Lathrop Fellows and frequently joined the group on arts trips.
