Join exhibition curator Elizabeth Rice Mattison in Community and Exile: Artists in Paris, 1910–1939 to learn more about the upcoming Hood Salon!
The exhibition features work from the Hood Museum’s collection by immigrant artists who sought refuge in Paris, from the beginning of the 20th century until World War II. Artists came to the city to escape persecution, societal strictures, and economic stagnation elsewhere in the world. Paris allowed them to build a community in their new home and to forge a thriving, interdisciplinary cultural scene.
In the same spirit of creative and cultural exchange, the museum is welcoming submissions from current Dartmouth graduate and undergraduate students of works that respond to or expand upon the themes and/or artworks in the exhibition. Selected works will be reproduced in a publication made available to gallery visitors within the exhibition. For more information about the Hood Salon, click here.
