details
Robert Gober makes precise sculptures based on familiar household or other mundane objects; in subtle ways, they allude to issues of sexuality, relationships, religion, nature, and politics. He is perhaps best known for large-scale room installations that sometimes involve theatrical lighting and running water. Gober represented the United States at the 2001 Venice Biennale, and his work can be found in many national and international museum collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Modern Art (where he recently had a highly acclaimed retrospective).
