Membership Matters: The Season in Review

Hood Quarterly, spring/summer 2010

Fall and winter were busy times for membership programs. In the fall, the Hood paired up with SaintGaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, N.H., to provide an overnight trip to New York City to tour the Saint-Gaudens exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Century Club, and the Player's Club.

Two member courses were offered in the fall and winter featuring the modern and contemporary art collections at Dartmouth. Participants learned over the four-week course about a variety of works in the Modern and Contemporary Art at Dartmouth exhibition.

The first Art in Bloom benefit event was held in October and welcomed more than 150 ticketed visitors for the day. Ten garden clubs created inspired floral arrangements in conversation with works in the galleries. Gardening expert Charlie Nardozzi and landscape architect Julie Moir Messervy presented talks. The proceeds from this event and accompanying silent auction support the dozens of lectures, gallery talks, and other public programs that the Hood offers free of charge throughout the year.
