About
The Changing Figure in American Art examines a variety of figural paintings and sculptures to explore the range of content that can be mapped onto the image of a person, whether known to the artist or not. These works from throughout US history demonstrate the elasticity of meaning that can be derived from the human form.
This exhibition is organized by the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth, and generously supported by the George O. Southwick 1957 Memorial Fund.
