Asia

The various artistic traditions of Asia are represented in the Hood’s collection by works from China, Japan, Korea, and South Asia, particularly bronzes, ceramics, and works on paper. From Western Asia, the museum’s most significant holdings include ninth-century BCE Assyrian stone reliefs from the ancient palace of Ashurnasirpal II in present-day Iraq.

Eastern Asia

The museum’s holdings from Eastern Asia include Chinese tomb figures, Japanese prints and illustrated books from the late eighteenth to the early twentieth centuries.
