In the 1940s, film noir borrowed from 1930s glamour photography to juxtapose photographs with text and define glamour in narrative terms as the culmination of a process of transformation. Professor Keating’s most recent publication is The Dynamic Frame: Camera Movement in Classical Hollywood Cinema (Columbia University Press, 2019.
