Child's Sailor Dress
Au Louvre, Paris, Frenchlate 19th-early 20th century
Two-piece dress consists of: A. sleeveless underdress, B. over-blouse. Dress is made of ecru/yellow silk with blue-gray polka dots. The over-blouse has long sleeves embroidered with blue feather stitching at the cuffs and a blue-gray silk faille sailor collar with ties, also embroidered with blue feather stitching. The sleeveless under-dress has a pleated skirt with a linen bodice, onto which is sewn a blue-gray silk faille yoke embroidered with gold anchors.
