This watercolor by Matthew Ritchie portrays the character Azazel, "The party animal . . . a create of unbridled appetite" and "the guy with no humility." The light wash of the painted-pink flesh contrasts with the aggressive figure and its phallic extra heads—their tongues protruding—while the figure’s open stance draws our attention to his groin. This work is not typical for Ritchie, whose work is often expansive in scale and subject matter. The fragility and aggression combined with the use of pink are provocative in the depiction of the male—not the female—form.
