The Hood partners with Opera North to present delightful excerpts from American composer Douglas Moore's "The Ballad of Baby Doe." This English-language opera tells the fascinating and true story of one of the richest men in America.s history, silver king Horace Tabor, his first wife, Augusta, and his second wife, Baby Doe. During the ten years of their marriage, Baby Doe and Horace squandered over twelve million dollars before Horace.s death in 1893. There will be two free performances, reservations required, with seats confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Hood curator of American Art Barbara MacAdam will also introduce the summer exhibition "Embracing Elegance, 1885.1920: American Art from the Huber Family Collection."
