Drawn primarily from the Hood Museum of Art's extensive collection of European and North American posters produced during World War I and World War II, this exhibition of more than ninety works examines this persuasive art form's diverse aims, such as recruiting soldiers, warning against espionage, bolstering industrial production, and vilifying the enemy. On All Fronts explores the historical contexts in which the posters were presented, as well as various graphic and pictorial strategies artists used in the service of the war effort.
Sarajevo features more than thirty posters and mail art images produced during the siege of Sarajevo (1992-1995) by various municipal, military, and cultural organizations in the city. |
