Completing the Picture

Whether worn inside, out of doors, at sporting events or formal affairs, in mourning or in celebration, until the mid-twentieth century the hat was an essential component in a woman's wardrobe. Through paintings, prints, and costume Completing the Picture will present an historical overview of millinery design from 1820 to 1930 and its role in completing the picture of the well-dressed woman.
