Greek, Roman, and Cypriot

The ancient Western antiquities collection contains a selection of classical Greek and Roman objects, including sculpture, mosaics, amphorae, and other decorative arts. The collection was established by Dartmouth College in the nineteenth century and has been enlarged over the years through a number of important gifts. Significant works include a Greek Panathenaic amphora from the Panathenaic games of about 480 BCE, a late Roman sarcophagus depicting Eros, Nereids, and Tritons, and a rare early-fourth-century bronze ram.
