The Hood's American furniture is primarily New England in origin, with the majority of pieces dating from the late eighteenth century through the mid-nineteenth century. Highlights include a handsome group of Boston neoclassical library furnishings that previously belonged to Boston man of letters George Ticknor, Dartmouth Class of 1807. Also of interest are several mid-nineteenth-century pieces associated with the Shaker community in Enfield, New Hampshire.
