Dartmouth College's long-standing commitment to the acquisition of contemporary art has resulted in the development of a collection that includes notable works by some of the leading artists of this century. Among the modern and contemporary American artists represented are John Sloan, William Glackens, Paul Manship, Max Weber, Georgia O'Keeffe, Stuart Davis, Mark Rothko, Alice Neel, Ed Ruscha, and Alex Katz. The museum's holdings of European art from this period include a signficant number of works by Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Joan Miró, Wassily Kandinsky, Max Ernst, Jean Dubuffet, and Yves Klein. |
