Member Event: Art in Bloom

The Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College is a teaching museum concerned with educating students and the broader community to look, see, describe, interpret and analyze images. The Hood is a vital resource for its local community and the region beyond. It brings the visual arts, musical performances, school programs, diversity, scholarly lectures, gallery talks, symposia, artists, and opportunities for direct engagement with works of art to thousands of visitors annually. The museum is committed to providing programs for adults and children, year-round and free of charge. Admission to the museum is free mainly because of the leadership of our generous members, who believe, as we do, that art is for everyone.

Hood Museum of Art members show their enthusiasm for the visual arts through support of programs for school children and their families. Member contributions and funds raised through special events help to sponsor a variety of programs including ArtVentures for children ages eight and older, Teen Workshops for children ages fourteen through eighteen, and Family Days. These programs provide children with opportunities for guided tours, discussions, and creative projects that encourage them in their exploration of the visual arts, thereby enriching their personal experiences and broadening their perspectives on the world. The Friendship Fund Award given annually to a teacher who incorporates the arts into the school curriculum is another way that Hood Museum of Art members show their support for children and families. Membership gifts also help to support acquisitions of works of art.

The mission of the Hood Museum of Art is to inspire, educate, and collaborate with our academic and broader communities about creativity and imagination through direct engagement with culturally and historically significant works of art. We are grateful to our members for their support of this ideal. In appreciation for their commitment, we are pleased to offer Hood Museum of Art membership benefits including reduced or free admission at participating museums nationwide, advanced invitations to art-focused trips, and member-only events designed around our special exhibitions. Please join us at the Hood and celebrate all that the arts have to offer!
