Change is always afoot in the galleries. From the rotation of the Hood's own impressive collections to loans from other institutions, there is always something new to explore. While the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire, is closed from July 2006 to December 2007 for renovation and expansion, some of its most important paintings and sculptures will be on loan to the Hood Museum of Art. Works by renowned artists such as James Henry Cafferty, Asher Durand, John Singleton Copley, Martin Johnson Heade, Henri Matisse, and Jacob van Ruisdael will be exhibited periodically over the course of the next year and a half. These masterpieces will be combined with the Hood's own treasures to greatly enhance our ongoing displays of European and American art from the Renaissance to early modernism.
