Ever wonder how art ends up in a museum? Want to help select new art for the Hood's collection?
Join us for Museum Collecting 101!
On upcoming Monday evenings from 4:00 to 5:30. Planned dates are January 21, January 28, February 4, February 11, and February 18.
After hours and behind-the-scenes at the Hood Museum of Art.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE:
The opportunity to meet with a curator and other staff and be introduced to the museum's photography collection. You'll discuss the criteria curators use to select works of art for a museum collection, review the work of several contemporary photographers, and decide which artist's work the Hood should purchase.
THE TYPE OF ART:
This program will focus on contemporary photographers who address the theme of transgression. The final photograph selected for purchase will receive its first public appearance as part of an upcoming photography exhibition at the Hood in the fall of 2013.
TO SIGN UP:
For Dartmouth students only. FREE. No previous art knowledge or experience necessary.
Blitz LOOK at the Hood and tell us your name, year, major, and (briefly) why you would like to participate. Space is limited and participation at all five sessions is required. Priority will be given to students who have not previously participated in a Museum Collecting 101 program at the Hood.
